Ooty is a popular and beautiful destination in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu, India. Ooty is also known the Queen of Hill stations. As the weather is pleasant, March is a good time to visit Ooty.

In Ooty you can see some bright green soothing slopes, cloud and some mystical pathways. It has it's own immense beauty and enough activities that keep everyonr satisfied and happy to visit. 1. Doddabetta Peak

Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in Ooty. It is 2,623 meters above the sea level. This is the most important choice among the list of Ooty tourist places. You can see this is the junction of Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats. Doddabetta Peak is around 10 km away from Ooty.

As this peak covered by dense sholas, it is all the trekkers favourite point. You will get a mesmerizing view from the top of this peak. Also, there is a telescope house at the peak where you can enjoy captivating view of the valley around. This will increase the charm of Doddabetta Peak.


 


2. Kalhatty Waterfalls

Kalhatty Waterfalls is situated on the Ooty-Mysore Road arround 13 km away from Ooty. This Kalhatty Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls you can explore in this Ooty trip. You can reach this waterfall via a 2-mile trek from Kalahatti village. 

Some people believed that famous Hindu saint Agastya has once lived here. Also, you will see some beautiful birds there. You will be spellbound by its scenic beauty.

There is no entry fee and it is open from 6 am to 10 pm.


 

 

3. Mukurthi National Park

This Mukurthi National Park is located in Nilgiri. You can see some endangered animals like Bengal Tiger and Asian Elephant there. The park is covered with montane grasslands decorated with sholas. This is also one of the best place to visit in Ooty.

This location is little cold and windy. Also, sometimes you can experience high rainfall there, so once you visit this place you should be prepare.

There is an entry fee Rs 15 and camera charges.

 

4. Deer Park

From 2 kms away from Ooty Lake, there is a beautiful Deer Park.  This Deer Park is easily accessible from Ooty Lake by road. In this park you can see varieties of deer such as Sambhar and the Chithal. For wildlife enthusiasts this deer park is very interesting. In the year 1968, this deer park was established and it is spread around 22 acres area.

It is a well-known wildlife sanctuary of Tamil Nadu.

 

5. Emerald Lake

Emerald Lake is situated around 25 km away from Ooty near the Emerald Village in the Nilgiri District.

This beautiful lake offers you a perfect place for picnic where you can relax and spend some quality time with your loved one. There is also tea plantation surrounding this lake. You can enjoy breathtaking sunrise and sunset from here.


 

 

6. Avalanche Lake 

Avalanche lake is a must visit place when you are on Ooty Tour. There is lush green mountains and landscapes near the lake mesmerizes every visitor. This lake was created due to a massive landslide back in 1800s. Also, this place is ideal place for fishing. Some other activities popular is this place are camping, rafting and trekking.

 

7. Ooty Lake

Another beautiful place in Ooty is Ooty Lake. This lake is generally popular for boating. You can enjoy boat ride on its serene waters. Near this lake there is a boating house. Also you can shopping various locally made items from few shop near this lake.

 

8. Nilgiri Mountain Railway 

There is also a Toy Train service of Nilgiri Mountain Railway.  This railway was built by the British.

This toy train journey gives you a lifetime experience. In this journey the ride offers you the dense forests, a flowing river and captivating landscapes. The ticket is costing Rs 250 /- per person and you can book from IRCTC.

 

9. Dolphin’s Nose 

This place has a panoramic view which gives you unquestionably beauty. If you are an adventure lover and photographer then you will love this place definitely. The vast scenery decorated with Catherine Falls, Nilgiri Hills and lots of greenery is purely spectacular. Also, you will get a telescope to have a better experience of the beauty in this place. March to May is the best time to visit as it gets extremely cold in winters.

 


 

10. Tiger Hill

Tiger hill is very beautiful place to have a charming view of the scenic beauty in this place. It is one of the best places to see in Ooty. It is situated little away from the crowed of the city which will give you peace and liberate your mind. You can enjoy a breathtaking sunrise and sunsets from here.
